victor m maldonado has been involved with art for as long as he can remember. he credits his artistic talents to his family, especially his father & brother who taught him the art of photography while growing up in a bi-cultural environment in mexico city & los angeles. he took up cinematography in 1971, filming his many surf trips along the coast & across the mexican border. during this era while in san pedro, california, he met a cast of colorful bohemian artists who indelibly influenced him & encouraged him to pursue his artistic endeavours.

soon afterward victor opened a successful airbrush studio & airbrushed for several surfboard shops at huntington beach – the surf capital of the world. victor is a photographer, film editor, painter, sculptor & an accomplished ceramicist. he had the honor of graduating at the top of his class holding the number one position from the l.a.city fire academy & is honorably retired from the fire department where he received letters of commendation from the fire department, a senator & local politicians. in addition, victor has donated his time to serve his community by being a counselor for the billy graham crusade organization & a crisis counselor for the california runaway hotline. having worked with burn survivors, victor was on the executive board & the director of photography for the world burn council with the phoenix society in san francisco.

victor’s other interests include entheobotany research, a field in which he has cataloged & photographed medicinal plants & their uses, and radio broadcasting production. victor’s musical interests landed him a stint for 5 years at the house music radio program "keys to the house" with the legendary house music master marcus "marc the lark" dickerson which aired throughout the central valley of california & into san francisco’s bay area on kuop 91.3 fm. it was during this time that victor mixed energetic dance music for the nfl football team san francisco 49er goldrush cheerleaders & began documenting the underground house music subculture movement, leading him to photography projects for several record labels which he still enjoys doing today.

intertwined throughout the years victor has been seen modeling & acting for many television programs, sport & fashion magazines such as vogue, postcards, calendars and movie projects. he has since given up being in front of the camera, preferring to work behind the camera. victor has worked with & photographed hundreds of models & previously was contracted as the northern california scout & photographer for the very prestigious & internationally known modeling agency IT MODELS (from victoria's secret fame), which at the time featured supermodel stephanie seymour.

the artistic journey continues today for victor maldonado. his photographic talent with film & his editing skills have earned him a position as a forum moderator for the los angeles based lafcpug - a movie editing forum started by michael horton for professional & independent film makers worldwide & based in hollywood, california -- victor is an apple certified pro trainer on final cut pro 6 & aperture 1.5 & a member of the national association of photoshop professionals. today victor films & edits promotional reels for hollywood actors & entertainers & can be seen shooting at the viper room, vinyl in hollywood & the sound factory in san francisco. victor routinely teaches for apple inc., & is an instructor at ucla, all4dvd & dvcreators in california, & at simplemente in mexico city.
