This is a cross pollination seed pod of T. peruvianus, T. pachanoi & T. bridgesii. This tasty Trichocereus fruit is reminiscent of Opuntia’s own fruit (prickly pear cactus — tuna de nopales) which tastes a lot like a honeydew melon. The orange color is bacteria that has grown after the fruit had been injuried.
